The Clown Prince of North Reading

When Miles tickles the ivories, he's like a cross between Phillip Glass (with the asynchronous discord) and Victor Borge (with the climbing on, moving of, and whacking non-musical parts of the piano).

1982 San Diego Comic Con (Set)

This set (from Alan Light) of scans from the 1982 San Diego Comic Con makes me miss, so much, going to comic book shows.

Every year, my dad, sister, brother, and I would go to the (a?) comic convention in downtown Boston (i could take you to the hotel, though I don't recall the name...second floor).  I loved the musty stacks of bizarre old titles, the massive white "long boxes" full of treasures...the sketches, the art, the color, the buzz.  Of course, I unfortunately only really got "into" comic books right around the beginning of the "limited edition 15-option foil-holo-uranium-talking 'Phenomenal Spider Man vs Moses' mini-series error print run" speculative boom/bubble...so there was a lot more "untouchably expensive" stuff locked behind plastic cases...but it was still fun.

Boagworld

I'm late to the game here, but yesterday, pretty much out of the blue, I decided to check out the left-out-to-pasture 9-Rules Design Community Feed...and stumbled upon the Boagworld web design podcast (feed).  I listened to the first (rather, my first, their 90th) episode on the way in to work today...and enjoyed it.  It seems to be a nice balance of design-related news (first fifteen or so minutes), interview with industry experts (30 minutes or so), and a short "tutorial" (last fifteen minutes or so)...covering web design, trends, technology (but nothing exceedingly heady), workflow, and site management.

Man, that sounds like an ad...well, it's what i've been looking for for quite a while.   So, yeah.

Oh Superman

How much do I love M.A.N.D.Y. & Booka Shade's "O Superman?"  The answer...a whole lot...the samples/covered vocals are haunting, spooky, and sad.  Detached, I think, is a good word.  Love it.

Laurie Anderson's original ("O Superman") is amazing as well (and less was reworked than I had imagined).  Here's more from Wikipedia.

As an aside, please only listen to that first Booka Shade YouTube link.  Viewing it is possibly the worst thing you could do.  I warned you.

Yahoo News Top Stories (Miserable) Zen

These headlines appeared, in order, in my Yahoo News top stories Netvibes module:

 > "Woman May Have Abused Kids In $2M Scam"
 > "Nicole Richie Confirms She's Pregnant"
 > "Why People Have Sex: It Feels Good"

It might be a stretch, but the fourth story was about the Yankees' 8 home runs in a victory over the White Sox.
