CLAMPANTS

Here we are, trapped in the amber of the moment.

On a day that started out with the news that Kurt Vonnegut Jr. had died, I can rest assured that if we, as a race, don't blow ourselves up (in one "bad afternoon"), there's a good chance we'll experience a singularity ("...self-accelerating technologies will speed up to the point of so profound a transformation that the other side of it is unknowable. And this transformation will be driven by Artificial Intelligences (AIs) that, once they become self-educating and self-empowering, soar beyond human capacity with shocking suddenness.") or perhaps a "Golden Age" ("Humanity catches on that the magic ingredient is
education, and engages the full plasticity of the human psyche,
empowered by hope, information, and communication.") culminating in unfathomable changes 50,000 years down the line (thank you Vernor Vinge).

What I am saying is:  thanks to the Open Culture blog, I uncovered that The Long Now Foundation now has a working podcast feed to send their mind-bending lectures to each and every one of you.  And I urge you to listen in to each and every one of them.
