AC on Blast

So, last night Chris, Doug, and I headed over to Great Scott to catch Diplo (Wes Pentz) and some of his Brazilian cohorts (Bostonist refered to it as "show of the summer," which I agree...). In short, Diplo blasted through a tremendous set...working the stifling, witheringly stuffy club into a writhing mass similar to, I imagine, a Brazilian street party (if such things exist). One of the things I love about Diplo is the thunderously good quality of his breakbeats...twisted and raw, yet crisp and always oh-so-appropriate (and the teasing nature of his mixes...uncountable tracks layered and squeezed into too-short a time period show, in my mind, his love of what he's playing...that sort of feeling you get when you want to take over someone's stereo at a house party).

Show of the summer, indeed ($18 pitchers of warm beer at the Sports Depot, however, had nothing to do with the evening's accolades).
